Video has been going around showing Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch laughing extremely hard in the immediate aftermath of the interception that lost the game for Seattle. Is it the real deal?
A video has been going around showing Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch laughing extremely hard immediately following Malcolm Butler’s game-ending interception at the goal line in Super Bowl XLIX. For a man who just had a Super Bowl victory figuratively taken out of his hands mere moments prior, Lynch’s actions have been difficult to believe for many fans.
While some question whether the vine above is the real deal or not, after doing a little digging myself, it seems like “Beast Mode” really did laugh and smile his way off the field. In a moment like that, where the Seahawks were on the brink of a second-consecutive title only to have it suddenly vanish after a terrible play call, it’s hard to do anything but laugh at the sheer ridiculousness of the situation.
Additionally, Lynch is clearly not your average athlete with one of the more unique personalities in the sports world. At this point, nothing Lynch does should come as a surprise, unless he starts willingly speaking to the media.
Towards the end of the video below from Pete Carroll’s interview on NBC’s “Today” show with Matt Lauer, the full sequence of Lynch taking off his helmet and laughing his way to the sideline can be seen.
