The NBA has suspended James Harden for one game without pay after he kicked LeBron James below the belt during Sunday’s game between the Houston Rockets and Cleveland Cavaliers. With 2:08 remaining in the third quarter of the Rockets’ 105-103 overtime win over the Cavaliers, Harden fell to the floor after wrestling for possession of the ball with James. Once he was down, Harden extended his left leg and lightly kicked James in the groin.
Harden was assessed a Flagrant 1 foul by the referees during the game, but upon league review, the NBA has upgraded it to a Flagrant 2 foul. The leading MVP candidate will serve his suspension on Tuesday when Houston travels to Atlanta to play the Hawks.
