John Carlson Named NHLThird Star Of The Week
In just his second year at the NHL level, John Carlson is making a name for himself. In 28 games this season, Carlson has put up 20 points (5 G, 15 A). That total puts him at third on the team, only behind Nicklas Backstrom (31 points) and Alex Ovechkin (21 points). This past week, he scored seven points (1 G, 6 A) in three games, two of which the Capitals won.
Since Dale Hunter took over as the Capitals head coach Carlson has one goal and seven assists in six games. He has also not played less than 23:30 in each of those six games. He has also stepped up his physical game since Hunter has taken over, putting in solid defensive games in the Capitals previous four contests.
In 82 games last season, Carlson racked up 37 points. He is well on track to exceed that point total this season by a large margin.
