Washington Post Forced to Change Name of Redskins Blog By Daniel Snyder and Company
Apparently, Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder is taking a stand to make sure nobody uses his team’s name without paying for it–with the Washington Post being the latest victim.
The Post was recently asked to change the name of “Redskins Insider” since they don’t have a contract or pay the organization to use the name, according to Brad Biggs of the National Football Post. Now, the famous blog that covers the Redskins on a consistent basis will be refferred to as “Football Insider.” The Post’s Paul Farhi provided an explanation on Tuesday:
The Redskins, who have been at the forefront in creating their own multimedia operations, have been aggressive in policing the use and misuse of their “brand” by others.
For many years, the “Redskins” name was used freely in the titles of local sports highlight shows on TV and radio. No longer. The team put an end to the practice several year ago, now only permitting “authorized” uses of its name — that is, under contractual agreement. Comcast SportsNet is the “official” TV network of the team, for example, and airs a highlight program called “Redskins Nation” hosted by Larry Michael, a broadcaster who is an employee of the team. At the same time, the Redskins produce a half-dozen interview and promotional TV shows through the team-owned Redskins Broadcast Network. The programs air on local stations during the football season.
The Redskins recently asked The Washington Post to rename the newspaper’s video webcast and blog about the team, which was called “Redskins Insider,” according to people who have knowledge of the circumstances. The team had used the name “Redskins Insider” first, and The Post agreed to switch to “Football Insider.”
Well played Mr. Snyder–finding another way to get some extra money in those pockets from people outside of the organization.

Dan Snyder is a first class A**hole! He still doesn’t realize the only thing in common with the demise of this franchise is DAN SNYDER.Its time for a first,the fans of The Washington Redskins need to get together and force this owner out.Hit him where it hurts most.His wallet.Fans should stop attending games until he sells the team.Preferably back to the Cooke family.No body wants him as the owner of this franchise.
This is just another example of what is wrong with the franchise. The actual game of football and building a winning team on the field has taken a backseat to this type of crap!
Oops, I guess I’ll be charged for that one. This little of a man who lives in Potomac, MD is an egotistical, boorish little man who has a “Panic Room” in his house. I’ve seen the plans for it. I guess he needs it to fend off all the pissed off players. I baffles the mind of someone who owns a professional football team. had enough money to do whatever…and still wants more. Personally he should be fired by his players and staff. BRING BACK JACK KENT COOK. Now that was a man’s man. He never graduated high school, but was able to amass wealth on hard work first by owning the LA Lakers in the 70′s and then the REDSKINS. I was there when Jack Kent Cook stadium opened. My son participated in the NFL Punt, Pass & Kick regional competition. So I now Redskins history. I skipped school to go to the parade in ’82 when the Redskins won the Superbowl.
Just go away Dan Snyder. You have tried to buy a Superbowl championship and have failed miserably. You have made the Redskins a league wide cartoon with all the BS. Get rid of that lump Haynesworth, and stop using up valuable drafts picks for a hopefully one-year-wonder QB in Donovan. I still hope he works out for the team, but I’m losing patients with the ownership.
