The Redskins didn’t play this week, in case you weren’t aware.  Neither did the Dallas Cowboys.

Both the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants suffered tough losses, so that means the ‘Skins are now alone atop the NFC East at 3-1.

But where do they stand in this week’s national NFL Power Rankings?  It’s not uncommon for a team to actually drop in the rankings during their Bye week, even though they didn’t lose a game.  Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you want to look at it, the Redskins didn’t fall victim to this trend.  Instead, they actually moved up.

Our buddies over at Hogs Haven provide a nice breakdown of the Week 6 Power Rankings from a variety of different media outlets, and it looks like everyone is being pretty kind.

ESPN:  10

FOX:  10

SB Nation:  9

CBS Sports:  8

Yahoo!:  12

Hogs Haven:  9

NFL.com:  10

National Football Post:  11

Like I said, overall, not only did the Redskins not suffer from a Bye week drop, they actually got a little extra love.

Even our buddy Mike Florio over at Pro Football Talk couldn’t think of a good reason to drop them in his rankings.  He put them 12, up from 17 last week.  It looks like he’s finally coming around and getting over his hate-fest for the ‘Skins.

Sunday’s game against the Eagles will have a tremendous effect on both teams, as well as the rest of the division.   The Redskins are trying to go to 4-1 and could end up in the top five in most power rankings next week if they pull off a convincing victory, and the Eagles are trying to avoid going 1-5 which would basically mathematically eliminate them from playoff contention.
