When people talk about a Washington Redskins quarterback, no one is looking at Rex Grossman, they’re looking past him.

I think I would wear a NY Giants jersey next season  if the news broke that Rex was to remain  starting quarterback for the Washington Redskins. You can call me on that if it happens. I’ll welcome it.

It would be my protest until he was benched.

Call it harsh, but I call it how I see it. I’m saying nothing less than what’s been said already so bare with my reckless lead into this post. I’m being nice in comparison to some of the colorful language that’s out there.

NBC Sports just posted a quote from Rex Grossman that has revived a headache that I’ve been trying to get rid of all day. So much for that mission.

He was quoted by SiriusXM Radio’s Movin’ the Chains with Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan saying, “…A dream scenario for me would be to go back there and play consistently and play the way that I always thought I could for a whole season.  That would be the dream scenario but I also know that I’ve got to do what’s best for myself and take the best opportunity that’s out there.  So we’ll see what happens March 13″. (Full quote here)

Here’s a guy that has really amazed me with his “Superstar” like attitude. He actually feels like the Redskins are going to keep him.  John Beck has another year on his contract. Everyone’s banking on either a veteran like Peyton Manning filling the spot or a draft pick. Grossman’s a third-stringer, if that much.

Is he the only person that has not got the memo? I’ve read no headlines about him even being a prospect for another team…and I’ve searched.

Is he reading the headlines and does he really care? I think he’s playing us. No one can be this out of touch with current events.  If he is, he should fire his agent.

Rex Grossman’s comments come very late in an off season where headlines like “The Next Washington Redskins Quarterback” have filled the Internet world and TV.  He needs to get ahead of the media. However, I think he’s already been voted off the island.

Grossman had a chance to be the man. He couldn’t do it, and one more year won’t change that perspective.  The Redskins were left with a record below the Jim Zorn era, and a season of quarterback drama that resulted in some horrible losses.

And if he thinks he’ll have another “close” quarterback competition with an RGIII or Peyton Manning-type quarterback, then he’s very, very wrong.

It would be the equivalent of  Mortal Kombat game where in the end you would only hear “Finish Him…”
