7 Rants to “Robert Griffin III is the Cleanest African America...”

  1. RedTie says:

Lol I have to be honest I would have taken this differently if this article was written by a white person. Good article, I agree for the most part.

  2. Yared Yilma says:

I am sick and tired of people bringing up race. Race has nothing to do with success and stop comparing Robert Griffin to only black QBs. In fact he reminds me of Steve Young/ Athletic Joe Montana.

    • Emmanual Benton says:

You’re absolutely correct, however I’m not comparing RG3 to any of those QB’s. Being an African American individual myself, I’m just pointing out the historical standpoint of a black QB having the cleanest sheet I’ve seen. I pointed out in the first paragraph that its now a non-color barrier at the position. But I just wanted to acknowledge the evolution, leading us into what is now the cleanest African American prospect.

  3. Daniel says:

    How do you define “clean”?

    • Emmanual Benton says:

When you go down the criteria list, projecting a franchise QB, you ask yourself who has the cleanest sheet. The guy with the least red marks (negatives) are defined as “clean prospects.”

  4. SkinDaNFC says:

Good article Manny, fresh perspective and story line about something that people just aren’t talking about publicly. You can pretend they don’t exist, but stereotypes of the black QB are prevalent. I personally look forward to RG3 breaking and redefining all of them. Think he will be a great black role model in an area that really needs one. I for one though am not getting too hyped about him yet, due to our franchises turbulent/checkered past. I will need him to earn his stripes!

  5. RNS says:

I’m with Yared Yilma….I see no reason to bring ‘race’ into RG3′s evaluation.
I totally abhor the “cleanest African American prospect” title to this article. I don’t care that the author is AA. Benton quickly zips through the
“the “perceived negatives” with some of the other AA Qb’s, but fails to go deeper into what really happened with their development as Qb’s. Bottom line, leave race outta’ the equation.
