ESPN Gaffes At Kobe Bryant Injury, Says Torn ACL Instead of Torn Achilles (Photo)

Kobe Bryant has been all of Twitter recently and his coaching advice made some headlines following the Los Angeles Lakers‘ Game 1 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday afternoon.

However, on Monday morning during ESPN’s SportsCenter, Bryant’s recent injury was the headline discussion. ESPN had NBA trainer Tim Grover on for a segment to talk about Bryant’s torn Achilles — which he suffered just over a week ago. The headline during the conversation however, was not about Kobe’s Achilles — but rather his torn ACL.

Wait, what? Kobe has a torn ACL? Come on,SportsCenter.

Bryant suffered a season-ending torn ACHILLES, but you might have to question yourself in you saw the graphic on Monday morning.

Take a look at the photo below:

Maybe ESPN was thinking about Rajon Rondo or Derrick Rose? No, this segment was about Kobe, that’s just your good ole graphic gaffe. Grover — who was widely known for his training services with Michael Jordan — has worked with Kobe and Dwyane Wade, among others during his own career. I’m pretty sure Grover was talking about Kobe’s torn Achilles in the segment, not this phantom ACL injury.

Well either way, Kobe did indeed suffer a torn Achilles, not a torn ACL. NBA fans are well aware of that, by now — even if SportsCenter isn’t. Someone behind the scenes will probably be in trouble for making that error, but hey it’s Monday, cut them a break.

Seriously though, these mistakes can’t be made. Next thing we know, David Ortiz will be swearing on live TV or something.
