This fantasy baseball season it seems like the bats of the Colorado Rockies have been corked. Seriously. The Rockies are currently ranked third in runs scored (325), second in home runs (86), third in team batting average (.275), second in hits (629), fourth in On Base Percentage (.335), and first in Slugging Percentage (.453).
The team may have an embarrassing 35-31 record right now, but it is in no way because of their sticks. The team is absolutely crushing the ball and it all starts with their heavy hitters.
OF Carlos Gonzalez is currently leading Colorado’s offensive explosion. He is hitting in the three-hole and is leading the team with 18 home runs, 52 RBIs, and five triples. Gonzalez is also leading the National League with 52 runs scored and is second with a .618 Slugging Percentage.
Behind CarGo is rejuvenated SS Troy Tulowitzki. Tulo missed most of last season with a frustrating groin injury, but the two-time All-Star is back in form this year. The shortstop has bashed 16 home runs of his own and is right behind CarGo with 51 RBIs. Tulo also has a jaw-dropping .347 batting average, which is currently second in the entire NL.
Even Dexter Fowler is getting in on the action. The center fielder is hitting a respectable .299 with 10 home runs and 26 RBIs. Fowler has never hit more than 13 homers, so this has been beyond a breakout campaign from the Georgia native.
Colorado’s stars have carried their fantasy owners all season long and have become three of the best value picks from this past year’s draft. If you have either of these sluggers on your roster, be happy they fell into your lap this season.
