Despite only recording seven wins prior to Wednesday’s game against the Sacramento Kings, Bradley Beal has been quite the nice edition for the Washington Wizards this season as the rookie as the former Florida star is averaging over 13 points per game along with just under four rebounds. However, Beal’s name has been thrown around recent trade talks over the last few weeks as the team looks for new ways to improve, but it appears that may no longer be the case with the trade deadline only a few weeks away.
One of the top NBA rumors this week involved Beal and the possibility of him being sent to the Memphis Grizzlies in a deal for Rudy Gay, but the team claims there’s nothing for the shooting guard to worry about as they have no intention of trading him. As tempting as it would be to land a player like Gay, Beal has shown plenty of potential during his rookie season and the recent return of John Wall could provide a spark in the lineup–so it’s no surprise to see the Wizards wanting to keep him around for the time being.
The last thing Washington wants to see happen is ship Beal off to Memphis and regret trading him later if Gay ends up being unhappy with playing for the Wizards–which would most likely have a high chance of happening. Keeping Beal around certainly seems like the right move for a player with that much potential–so nicely done on Washington’s end.
