The New York Knicks are one of the NBA‘s most inconsistent teams. There are times when they look like an impressive playoff-level team, but more often than that they look like a mediocre team that is still in the middle of a rebuilding project. These are the five reasons the Knicks won’t make the playoffs.
5. No Easy Baskets

When you are a team like the Knicks that doesn't have a lot of scorers it helps to generate easy baskets. The Knicks don't do that as they are last in the league in fast-break points by a wide margin, and also last in points off turnovers.
4. Poor Coaching

There doesn't appear to be much difference between Kurt Rambis' Knicks and Derek Fisher's squad. Both coaches are running the same outdated offense with glimpses of excellence from Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis.
3. Inconsistent Rotations

This ties into Rambis being a bad coach. Much like Fisher, his rotations are inconsistent and regularly don't make sense at all. Fan favorite Jerian Grant has experienced multiple DNPs on Rambis' watch, as Rambis tries to sort things out.
2. Lack Of Talent

Outside of Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis, the Knicks don't have any elite offensive talent. Robin Lopez and Arron Afflalo are a tier below them, but after Lopez and Afflalo there is a huge drop off.
1. Bad Point Guard Play

Pointing out how bad Jose Calderon is redundant at this point. As horrible as he is on defense (he showed it the other night when he was torched by Kyle Lowry), the truth is that backup Langston Galloway hasn't been much better recently.
