Over the course of the past few weeks there has been no faulting the work that TCU head coach Trent Johnson has done on the recruiting trail.
After first landing a pledge from Brandon Parrish back on Sep. 21, the Horned Frogs landed their biggest name to date with the addition of Karviar Shepherd just last week.
Well, TCU’s 2013 recruiting class increased again on Thursday night as the Horned Frogs landed the verbal commitment of 6-foot-2 point guard Michael Williams.
Multiple sources acknowledged Williams’ commitment and, while the Horned Frogs transition into their first season within the Big 12 Conference, expectations are low for Johnson in his first season. However, if the recent additions for next season are any indication, TCU is apparently headed in the right direction.
An original native of San Antonio, Texas, Williams currently attends Ronald Reagan H.S. (TX). He ran with the South Texas Irish during his time on the AAU circuit.
Williams had a number of mid-major offers from prior to Thursday’s decision and is known for his ability to run a team and knock down open jump shots on a consistent basis.
The Horned Frogs will open up the season at home on Nov. 9, receiving a visit from Cal Poly. TCU does not play a true road game until a Dec. 8 trip to Tulsa.
TCU seems to be well on their way of being able to hold their own in the ultra-competitive Big 12. We will see just how long that journey takes.
