Christian McCaffrey was named one of the three Heisman finalists on Monday. He will be going up against Alabama's Derrick Henry and Clemson's Deshaun Watson for the prestigious award. Henry is widely considered the favorite but that shouldn't be the case. Here are five reasons why McCaffrey should be the one striking the pose on Saturday.
5. He Has Become a National Cult Hero

A lot to do with winning the Heisman Trophy is the viewer appeal that you can bring to the fans. Right or wrong, a lot of the times it's the flashy and popular guys who take home the hardware. Just look at past winners like Tim Tebow, Reggie Bush and Johnny Manziel. If you can get people to tune in to your game simply to watch you, you deserve the honor. He's become a cult hero and that's what a Heisman winner should be.
4. His Incredible Versatility

4. His Incredible Versatility

In all of college football, McCaffrey is the only player in the FBS to lead his team in both rushing and receiving. That's pretty remarkable. Heck, as we saw this past weekend, he can even throw the ball. His versatility is off the charts and cannot be ignored. He is a true football player because he can do just about everything. It's a quality you look for in a Heisman winner. It's one thing he has on Henry as well.
3. Immense Importance To His Team

You can argue that no one player has been as important as McCaffrey has to his team. Alabama's defense may be more important to their success than Henry has been, and if it's truly down to McCaffrey against Henry then you can't include Watson in this argument, because even he has been more important than Henry. Without their star running back, Stanford would not be in the Rose Bowl and be Pac-12 champs. He's almost their entire offense.
2. Best Highlight Running Back Since Reggie Bush

As previously stated, a lot of what a Heisman Trophy winner should have is an incredible watch appeal. No one running back has been as fun to watch since Reggie Bush when he won the Heisman (before they took it away). McCaffrey has a YouTube highlight reel that can beat any of the finalists. His film just screams Heisman. Don't underestimate the value of having incredible highlights for your Heisman argument. He has a once in a lifetime look.

Anytime you break a record that Barry Sanders has held, you did something amazing. Sanders held the total yardage record for a single season for seemingly forever. Some people thought it may be unbreakable, but McCaffrey etched his name in the record books. Think about that, no one has ever had more yards in a single season than McCaffrey. Ever. In the history of college football.
