As long as the Seattle Seahawks remain alive in the NFC playoffs, the road to the Super Bowl will go through CenturyLink Field.

The Seahawks proved that on Saturday when they demolished the Carolina Panthers, 31-17, in an NFC divisional playoff battle.

Oh sure, the Panthers had a realistic chance in the fourth quarter, with time ticking away. Panthers quarterback Cam Newton drove his team down the field with under six minutes remaining and was within 15 yards of paydirt.

Then Kam Chancellor came along, picked off a Newton pass, and caused another earthquake in the Pacific Northwest when he ran the ball back 89 yards for a touchdown. So much for Carolina keeping things close.

For three quarters, the Panthers stayed close to Seattle and looked like they would make a game of things. Then the fourth quarter came, and the Seahawks’ strengths showed.

It is a given that Seattle shines on defense when the fourth quarter comes along. They had not allowed a fourth-quarter point in over six games, and the team saw no reason to start now.

That was why Chancellor may have been heard singing “This Is Our House” when he ran down the sidelines. With Chancellor’s pass interceptions and Richard Sherman‘s big playmaking ability, the Seahawks’ defense came through once again.

This means the road to the Super Bowl will go through Seattle. The Seahawks will face either the Dallas Cowboys or Green Bay Packers next week. Dallas has proven it can beat the Seahawks at Seattle, and Green Bay will put up a battle by Puget Sound if it wins against Dallas.

In reality, the Seahawks look like they are headed back to another Super Bowl. They also look tough to beat for a second straight championship.
