Robert Lewandowski Link Underlines Manchester United’s Dominance

Fresh off the back of their record breaking 20th Premier League title win Manchester United don’t appear content to just rest on their laurels and invite the challengers to come and wrestle their title away. The philosophy that Alex Ferguson has ingrained into his players is one of winning at all costs and never giving up.

Reports coming out in the media today are saying that Ferguson is close to bringing Polish hitman Robert Lewandowski to Old Trafford.

It’s simply not in United’s nature to just surrender without a fight, instead to ensure they remain masters of all they survey, Ferguson has made a preemptive strike at Borussia Dortmund to try and poach Lewandowski.

Lewandowski is currently one of Europe’s hot striking properties and with the player himself apparently warming to the idea of a move, Ferguson could well already have agreed a pre-contract deal with the technical forward.

The arrival of Lewandowski would hardly be surprising given that Ferguson has always favored having four strikers at the club and with the overwhelmingly/underwhelming Danny Welbeck being one of them, it’ll probably be the English forward who makes way.

Last year when United capitulated to Manchester City on goal difference, Ferguson made a point of getting personally involved in negotiations with Arsene Wenger in order to secure Robin Van Persie’s signature. It was this move for the prolific Dutchman that ensured United have remained one step ahead of City all season and it looks like Ferguson is planning to secure title number 21 before City have even got out of the starting blocks.

Regardless of whether Roberto Mancini signs misfiring $60 million forward Edinson Cavani and keeps energetic terrier Carlos Tevez, Manchester United will simply strengthen their attacking options for next year allowing them to stay ahead of City in the title race.

It’s this resilience and ability to identify what is needed that not only marks out Manchester United and Ferguson as the dominant forces in the Premier League at the minute, it also means that they have a blueprint for winning and that’s something rivals would kill for.

At the moment, the onus is on the other clubs to close the gap, but should United sign Lewandowski and keep Van Persie, it will make it exceptionally difficult to prevent United from claiming title number 21.
