Breaking News: Epstein Named Cubs GM

By Tony Piraro

The Chicago Cubs and former Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein have agreed to terms that will pay the two-time World Champion General Manager upwards of $20 million over 5-years. The specifics of the terms have not been agreed upon. This exclusive news was broke by Boston’s Dennis and Callahan Show just moments ago.

The Boston Globe reported today of how dysfunctional the 2011 Red Sox were behind the scenes. An example from the article was that Jon Lester, John Lackey and Josh Beckett (3 prominent stars of the rotation) would play video games, drink beer and eat fast food (take out fried chicken) in the clubhouse while games were being played. If this is type of disrespect Red Sox players have for their teammates, it’s no wonder why their skipper and GM walked out the door so fast.

Time will tell the magnitude of this signing by the Chicago Cubs. Right now however, Boston is reeling with disappointment. Watch Epstein’s first big signing with Chicago be the biggest fish of them all, in the form of Albert Pujols. Everyone would of assumed six months ago, Epstein would be the first in line at the Pujols sweepstakes…Just nobody figured he’d be wearing a Cubs hat.
