It has been a bit of a struggle for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist this year, but he may have had one of the best plays of the season on Wednesday. The Charlotte Bobcats rookie decided that he wanted to make the highlight shows and he threw down one heck of a poster dunk on Greg Monroe and the Detroit Pistons.
Seriously, that might be up there for one of the dunks of the season. MKG has a ton of potential, but he just has not put it all together yet. I expect him to pick his play up the second half of the season and this is certainly a good start. Monroe is no slouch on defense, so putting him on a poster is something that you should be proud of.
I expect the Bobcats as a whole to start playing a little bit better. They are very young, but they need to start showing signs of some improvement. It has been more than half of the season, which means the young guys should be making some strides. If they continue to fall into old habits, there is a bigger issue going on with the team. If you want to get out of a rebuild, your young guys need to pick up their play.
You are going to see this play all over the highlights for the next day or so. That is how impressive the dunk is. MKG simply soared over the defense. I honestly did not think he had that in him, but I am glad I was able to see it.
