Here’s a sentence that displays irony at its finest–Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer is now a father of twin girls.
Mauer missed Tuesday night’s game against the Los Angeles Angels so he could make it home in time to be there for the birth of his two daughters and the team has officially placed him on the paternity list as he’s expected to miss the next two or three games. For a player who has spent his entire 10-year career as a member of the Twins, it’s ironic he and his wife are now the parents of their own twins after giving birth Wednesday morning.
Obviously, these types of situations take top priority over anything in life and it’s always exciting to hear these feel-good stories. Even if Mauer is out for the next couple of games, it’s safe to say Minnesota will be just fine without their superstar considering they showed what they were capable of on Tuesday night.
If the Twins can win 10-3 against the Angels on the road–there’s no reason why the team shouldn’t be able to survive the next two or three games without Mauer in the lineup. Plus, Minnesota is currently 11 games back of first place in the American League Central–so there’s a good chance they most likely won’t be making the playoffs again this season.
Either way, the important factor here is the Twins catcher is the proud father of twins–which will never get old to say.
