15 Athlete Commercials That Are Annoying

Athletes appearing in movies and having cameos in TV shows is nothing new to pop culture. In fact, throughout time, professional athletes have been making cameo appearances in movies, sitcoms and even starring in their own commercials.

In case you don't remember, Michael Jordan used to be the king of commercials. He used to represent Nike and multiple other brands. He has since cooled the commercial-making down a bit, but there are a select few that feature the great one. Some commercials are comical and make you want to see them again, but others are just so repetitive and overplayed that you wish they were never made.

MJ isn't the only athlete to star in commercials, Peyton Manning has been known to do a few of his own. The only criticism of Manning, whether it's on the field or off, is that he accepts far too many commercial roles. He seems to be in every other commercial -- or at least he used to.

Blake Griffin is in the same boat as Manning. He takes seemingly every commercial role he can. I can think of three different brands he has a commercial for, and none of them are any good. Granted, the first time you see these athlete commercials, they are pretty funny -- nearly all of them start out this way. Then, either you watch too much TV, or it's just on constantly during breaks from your favorite show and there comes a point when it seems like the horrible commercial is on repeat.

There aren't too many good commercials out there, with athlete or not, but some can just irk the average person more than possibly desired. Let's get the point across right now: commercials are only good during the Super Bowl.

Blake Griffin: GameFly

I swear if I hear that old time music one more time advertising video games you can order online one more time, well, I don't know but it's just obnoxious and the commercial isn't funny.

Chris Paul: State Farm Insurance

Okay, I will admit this was one of my favorite commercials for a while. Now, I just can't stand to watch it. Chris Paul has a career in acting, though.

Peyton Manning: Papa John's Pizza

These Papa John's commercials have drawn mocking defensive play calls from opposing NFL teams during his famous audibles. You're better than this, Peyton.

Michael Jordan: Hanes

Okay, Mike. We get it. Bacon collars are annoying.

Clay Matthews: Fathead

From funny start, to creepy finish, this Clay Matthews Fathead commercial will make you laugh and then cringe.

Josh Hamilton: Head and Shoulders

Okay, this commercial isn't terrible, but who wants to watch a terrible baseball player -- at least this year -- make extra money on top of his giant contract.

Tom Brady: UGGs

All I can say about this is, guys should not be wearing UGGs and every time I see this, I want to toss my TV.

Aaron Rodgers: State Farm Insurance

These commercials used to be awesome. Now, not so much and just overly played like the rest of the State Farm commercials.

Kevin Durant, Dwyane Wade: Gatorade

Alright, yeah, Dwyane Wade and Kevin Durant don't like each other. I've seen it a million times and I'm sure you have, too.

Blake Griffin: KIA

I just don't understand the point of this one.

Robert Griffin III: Adidas

At first it was pretty inspiring. Now, it's just tiring. I wish he could remember his own words: every win and every loss don't matter from last season.

Mike Trout: Subway

Oh, it's funny, he's placing his order on baseballs and hitting them to the nearest Subway. Okay, I can only watch a guy place his order at Subway so many times before I call it quits.

Colin Kaepernick, Russell Wilson: Madden

Kaepernick and Wilson developed a Madden rivalry in the offseason and we definitely didn't forget it because it played during every commercial break.

Tony Stewart: Xfinity Wireless Gateway

This is one of those commercials that was funny at first, but then increasingly got more annoying. I'm not sure whether it's the fact that Tony Stewart isn't the most comical athlete or the fact that it's on repeat all day long that makes it so annoying.

Troy Polamalu: Head and Shoulders

These commercials scare me -- and they're extremely annoying.
