6. The Boston Red Sox

Any team that hosts a "Dollar Beard Night" for their fans is obviously dedicated to their facial hair. In fact, the Red Sox could have their own "Best Beards" list, and many of them would eclipse others on this list. Therein lies the problem -- it is impossible to only pick one or two BoSox beards because it would in no way do justice to the entire squad.

The most ambitious players on the roster went Duck Dynasty, uncontrolled mayhem big. Mike Napoli leads the charge and is closely followed by Clay Buchholz, Mike Carp, Jonny Gomes, John Lackey, Dustin Pedroia, David Ross and Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

David Ortiz, the most experienced post season player on the roster, heads the other group of players who have gone for a more refined bearded excellence. Following Ortiz with their cleanly landscaped jawlines are Craig Breslow, Ryan Dempster, Jacoby Ellsbury, Stephen Drew, Jon Lester, Will Middlebrooks and Shane Victorino.

The appearance of the 2013 postseason Red Sox is reminiscent of the 2004 "Idiots" of Fenway, who overcame the clean-cut New York Yankees and ultimately reversed the curse. The beards of this season's team shows they may be looking to utilize the same unconventionally goofy luck in hopes of another World Series title.

5. Josh Reddick

The Oakland Athletics' Josh Reddick's beard and hair combo runs a close second to Wilson's in its major league recognition. While Reddick cropped his usually flowing locks and unkempt facial hair back in April, the beard has returned just in time for the postseason. Though Reddick's October look is a bit more refined than we are used to seeing, his facial hair remains a dominating force in the American League.

Jason Motte of the St. Louis Cardinals is loaded with postseason beard experience. In his fourth postseason appearance (with one World Series title under his furry chin), Motte's playoff facial hair has continued to go to new lengths. This October's beard reigns supreme over those of his past postseasons, and the pitcher is hopeful it will bring him the luck of another title.

3. Matt Kemp

The Dodgers' Matt Kemp is known for his carefully sculpted facial hair. The center fielder is arguably the league's most eligible bachelor, and his playoff beard has ladies everywhere swooning. Kemp's usual refined scruff is amped up for October, coming in thick while still retaining its clean look. Though Kemp has been sidelined by an unfortunate shoulder injury, his beard will continue to bring him glory in the postseason.

The Athletics roster boasts another high level of dedication to postseason beard glory.

The pitcher-catcher combo of Sean Doolittle and Derek Norris are no exception. The duo has fully committed to the October trend and maintain two of the better beards in the playoffs.

1. Brian Wilson

Not really sure who didn't see this one coming. With a slogan like, "Fear the Beard," there's really no contest. The Los Angeles Dodgers' Brian Wilson reigns as the undisputed champion of major league beards. The pitcher has been honing his epic facial hair for the past few years and just when you think it can't get weirder, it does.

Wilson has upped his beard game this October by adding a ponytail flare to the bottom, and accenting it with the most outrageous mohawk in the league. Wilson continues to go above and beyond when it comes to bearded beauty, and this surely won't be the last we see of his innovative style.
