The Best Images From the Weekend That Was in Sports

USA Today Sports
USA Today Sports

What another tremendous weekend in sports we just experienced. The World Series is in full effect and delivering, while football in both the college and professional ranks is trucking along just as it always does.

Baseball was actually able to stand toe-to-toe with football in the ratings on Sunday night, which can be attributed to the World Series being entertaining and the Minnesota Vikings being awful. I'm sure Green Bay Packers' fans enjoyed the beatdown they put on the Vikings, but outside of the two fan bases, not near as many football fans tuned in.

Games three and four of the World Series ended in fashions we never seen before. An obstruction call ended game three, while a pick off ended game four. The endings, while odd, were ultimately good for baseball. They showed us that anything can still happen during October baseball.

The slate of NFL games this weekend wasn't fantastic by any means, but there were still some great games that went down to the wire. The Cowboys and Lions no doubt stole the show, while their two top wide receivers put on shows in their own regards. Calvin Johnson left us all with no doubt that he's the best pass-catcher in the game today.

So with all the games and action, there were of course some moments frozen in time. Here are the top 20 images from the weekend that was in sports.
