Biggest Screw Ups in Sports: Brandon Browner and the Top 10
Brandon Browner and the 10 Biggest Screw Ups in Sports
While there is much controversy surrounding the possible one-year suspension of Brandon Browner, he is still considered a screw-up for the fact that he let his team down by using performance-enhancing drugs. Browner violated the league's substance abuse policy and he could face his second suspension of the sort in as many years, hurting the Seattle Seahawks' secondary.
There are many athletes who can be classified as screw ups these days and there are many who are no longer athletes that might be the biggest screw ups of all. In case you don't remember Titus Young, he was a solid NFL wide receiver just a year ago and he ran into problems with the law so many times that he is no longer an NFL player. He ruined his playing career by being selfish.
Barry Bonds is another guy that can be considered a screw up after he took performance-enhancing drugs during his baseball career when he didn't need to. He was one of the best players in baseball for the first handful of years in his career before he started increasing in size and eventually it was nearly a given that he took the drugs -- especially if you look at how small he is nowadays compared to his playing days.
Screw ups can be classified as players who ran into problems with the law, players who cheated in their respective sport or just players who took their careers for granted and acted in an immature way that flushed their dreams down the toilet.
Who are the biggest screw ups in your favorite sport? Sometimes these athletes mess with other players and ruin their career -- like the NHL's Todd Bertuzzi -- and are never the same again. That, folks, is the definition of a screw up in sports.
Take a look at this list of the 10 biggest screw ups in sports and let me know who I've missed.

10. Brandon Browner
Browner screwed up not once, but twice. He was suspended in 2012 for violating the NFL's performance drug policy. Lo and behold, he's done it again in 2013, earning a one-year suspension.
9. Marshall Henderson
Marshall Henderson was placed on probation for trying to buy $800 worth of marijuana with counterfeit money. He then violated probation by later testing positive for cocaine and marijuana along with alcohol and then failed to do his ordered community service -- and this was in high school. He didn't get much better as he was caught with possession of marijuana and cocaine in the summer of 2013.
8. Justin Blackmon
Blackmon was charged with two DUIs and has been suspended twice from the NFL for his substance-abuse violation. He missed the first four games of 2013 and then played four games and then was suspended indefinitely for another violation of NFL rules. This kid is ruining his own career.
7. Michael Vick
Vick pinned innocent animals against each other in a dog-fighting scandal at his home in Virginia a few years back. He served jail time and has never been the same since.
6. Ryan Braun
He lied to close friends and family about not using steroids and was then caught by the league and suspended. Braun went from hero to zero in less than a year, making no friends in the process.
5. Adam Jones
Adam "Pacman" Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season and part of the 2008 season for off-field issues. He has been known to be involved in female abuse cases. Not a good guy.
4. Tiger Woods
Woods was once regarded as one of the most well-liked athletes in the world, but his infidelity scandal in 2009 revealed the real Tiger Woods. He had an affair with nearly a dozen different women and his marriage publicly split after "dirty" text messages were leaked between Woods and his apparent mistresses.
3. Alex Rodriguez
Alex Rodriguez has been suspended from baseball for his performance-enhancing drug use -- but he's denying it. Couldn't get any worse for a guy who has been proven to be guilty.
2. Lance Armstrong
He was once America's sweetheart after defeating cancer and going on to win Tour de France after Tour de France. However, he tested positive for PEDs and threw a ton of people under the bus in the process.
1. Aaron Hernandez
Hernandez might be the biggest screw up of all time in terms of athletes. He had it all: friends, fame and fortune -- until he screwed it up by being involved in a murder.
