The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia are just a mere two weeks away. The buzz has been increasing for a while now but it’s really been heating up in the last few weeks. Fans all around the world are excited to see their favorite Olympic athletes compete in the global event. Also, many fans aren’t ashamed to admit that they are excited to see the numerous beautiful female athletes take center stage.
It is a shame that Canadian-American ice dancer Tanith Belbin retired from the sport in 2010 because she is certainly someone fans have grown accustom to seeing. The good news is American fans may see a lot more of Belbin than they anticipated because she will cover the 2014 Winter Olympics for NBC. Belbin will be the host of a 30-minute daily show in which she will cover all of the Winter Games in the form of a highlight reel. The show will be called “The Olympic Zone.”
“Johnny (Weir), Tara (Lipinski) and Tanith have entertained judges and fans alike with their skill, style and charisma,” Executive Producer of NBC Olympics Jim Bell told NBC Sports. “We’re confident those same characteristics will entertain Olympic viewers this February.”
Belbin skated with Benjamin Agosto from 1998-2010. The two won the silver medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and took fourth place in the 2010 Winter Olympics. They are also a five-time U.S. champion, four-time medalist at the Figure Skating Championships and a three-time champion at the Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.
