Why do we watch sports? The feats of shear athleticism? Sure. The drama of a game coming down to the wire? Absolutely. However, one of the biggest reasons we watch is the chance to witness history. Last week, Kobe Bryant passed Michael Jordan for 3rd all-time on the NBA scoring list. Let’s look back at the biggest records to fall this year.

Speaking of Kobe, he broke an ignominious record early this season when he became the NBA’s all-time leader in missed field goals. If you're in the market for Lakers tickets, be sure to factor this one in. Laker Haters undoubtedly joked, “You can build a big house with 13,418 bricks.”

Peyton Manning will own every QB record there is to own by the end of his career, so any NFL tickets are a good bet to see history - including the all-time record for most shots of sad Peyton Manning-Face on the sideline in primetime. His pre-planned game of keep away with his receivers after the record-breaking toss was cheesy, but still fun.

Told you we’d be seeing a lot of Peyton. This is a record I was surprised Peyton didn’t break earlier considering the number of years he’s led his team to double-digit wins. There are few things more trustworthy than Peyton with the ball in his hands late in games. Anybody with Broncos tickets can tell you that he’s the anti-Romo.

J.J. Watt – Most 20 Sack Seasons

J.J. Watt is the best player in the NFL. Full stop. Aaron Rodgers will probably win the MVP after his Willis Reed impersonation in Week 17, but there is no doubt that Watt is the best overall player in the league. No defensive player has ever put together two seasons as good as Watt’s pair of 20-sack campaigns, and given how young he still is, J.J. has nowhere to go but up.

Like our previous record breaker, J.J. Watt, Odell Beckham, Jr. is a football beast the likes of which we haven’t seen before. Though he is just a rookie and only played 12 games this season, Beckham is already one of the best receivers in the NFL. There is nothing he can’t do, including making superhuman catch after superhuman catch. He’s a first-round fantasy pick next year.

Madison Bumgarner is a beast among men. The San Francisco Giants ' workhorse almost single handedly carried his team to a title this year. His 48 2/3 innings were the most ever in a postseason. It’s less impressive when you consider the playoffs used to just be the World Series, but he is the best nonetheless.

These two teams combined for 29 three’s in April. And they did it in a playoff game to boot. Fast forward eight months and the Pacers have fallen off a cliff. Luckily for them, they’ll always have this record - until Steph Curry bests it on his own this spring. Do yourself a favor and get Hawks tickets or Pacers tickets  soon.
