Fantasy Basketball 2012: Grab Tristan Thompson Off Waivers

It is definitely no secret that Cleveland Cavaliers big man Anderson Varejao is one of, if not the most dominating rebounder in all of basketball. However, with Varejao (knee) missing his fourth straight game on Wednesday night, someone had to pick up the slack.

That someone was second-year forward Tristan Thompson.

Thompson had a very nice game for the Cavs and fantasy owners, scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. In each game that Varejao has been out of the lineup, Thompson has recorded a double double. Obviously with “Andy” not in the mix, he can’t scoop up all of the interior work. Since given the opportunity, Thompson has been doing a very nice job filling in, totaling 51 rebounds over the past four contests. He has also been shooting the ball with consistency (11-17 over his last two).

The former Texas Longhorn will continue to put up these types of numbers for as long as Varejao remains out. Not to mention there have been trade rumors surrounding the Cavs Brazilian center. If he is somehow moved elsewhere, Thompson will become a very intriguing fantasy option for owners. However, as for now, he should still be added off of the waiver wire if available. And you better hurry because Thompson has currently been added in over 1,700 hundred Yahoo! basketball leagues.

Go grab Thompson as soon as possible. He is consistently putting up double doubles in each game, which is gold when it comes to fantasy hoops.
