Fantasy Basketball Stud Performance: Corey Brewer

Corey Brewer- Denver Nuggets

Chris Humphreys – USA Today Sports

The Denver Nuggets are one of the hottest teams in the NBA, and as if the team needed any more help, Corey Brewer is streaking.

The 6-foot-9 small forward put forth a fantasy basketball stud performance Thursday night with a season-high 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field. He was on fire from beyond the arc, making 5-of-6, and also made four free throws…including the game-winner.

Along with his scoring, Brewer played tight defense all night and tied a season-high with five steals. The 33 minutes are just under his season-high of 34 and marked just the third time this season he played over 30 minutes as head coach George Karl clearly ran with the hot hand.

While everyone is talking about the Miami Heat’s winning streak, the Nuggets have now won 14 straight thanks in part to Brewer’s emergence. He is averaging a high of 13.5 points per game this month and has also been a menace defensively averaging 2.3 steals. He is shooting close to 48 percent during the month and while he won’t hit five three-pointers a night, he is scoring consistently enough with double-digit points in 17 of his last 20 games.

Brewer, who is currently owned in just over 17 percent of ESPN leagues, can be added while he’s hot for the fantasy playoffs. He doesn’t rebound (2.9 per game) or dish (1.5 per game) much, but he can certainly give your team a nice boost in points and steals in a pinch.
