2013 Fantasy Baseball: OF Andrew McCutchen Starting To Heat Up

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

With all the disappointing performances by outfielders over the first half of the fantasy baseball season, it is a breathe of fresh air to actually see an elite outfielder live up to his expectations. One of those reliable hitters is Pittsburgh Pirates OF Andrew McCutchen.

The 26-year-old has become one of the most electric players to watch in all of baseball and he has truly become a fan-favorite of thousands of fantasy owners. Cutch has brought his average up to .307 on the year, but he has also added some respectable power numbers. McCutchen has 14 home runs and 55 RBIs to go along with his .300 average.

McCutchen has been unstoppable at the plate lately though. He is coming off his first multi-homer game of the season, as the slugger bashed two home runs on Monday against the Washington Nationals. Over his last six games alone, McCutchen has crushed five long balls and driven in eight runs. He is one of the hottest hitters in baseball and he doesn’t appear to be slowing down.

Last season, McCutchen stole 20 bases in Pittsburgh and had a pretty decent season on the bases. However, the 26-year-old has already surpassed that total this season (21) and could easily finish with over 40 stolen bases when it is all said and done.

McCutchen has a pretty impressive .302/.376/.471 slash line at the moment, but the outfielder is just starting to hit his stride. McCutchen is getting even hotter as the fantasy playoffs approach and the center fielder is primed to have a monstrous finish to another All-Star quality fantasy season.
