Houston Texans Top 5 Fantasy Players to Target

Houston 5
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Texans just cannot get to the next level in the postseason. They have the most talented team in the AFC South, always seem to get into the discussion for a Super Bowl, but always fall short of expectations. This year might be different, but if you are focusing on the Texans for the impact their players will have on your Fantasy Football team, Houston will not disappoint.

The Texans are one of the best teams in the entire NFL at high Fantasy point production. They have a solid defense (which gets better with the addition of Ed Reed), a high-flying passing game led by Matt Schaub and one of the most consistent running games in the country with Arian Foster. There isn’t many ways to go wrong by picking a member of this team, of course, before the postseason.

It is important to look at the Texans’ difficult schedule to make a decision on who to choose on this talented team, however.

The Texans' have a fairly difficult schedule as well. The Indianapolis Colts will challenge Houston in the AFC South, and I believe the Tennessee Titans are much better than many people give them credit. Out of their division, the tough opposition they face are the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. It will be a very difficult season for the Texans, but their players will still rack up Fantasy points for any team.

Here is a list of five players on the Texans that you should want on your Fantasy Football team:

No. 5 DeAndre Hopkins

He may be a rookie, but he could be a breakout player in 2013. Hopkins should be a late pick, but could rack up serious fantasy points later on in the season.

No. 4 Texans' Defense

The Texans have J.J. Watt, Brian Cushing and now, Ed Reed. Those three names alone should be enough reason to draft the Texans defense.

No. 3 Andre Johnson

One of the NFL’s elite receivers, Johnson will continue to produce in 2013.

No. 2 Matt Schaub

Schaub may not be able to perform well in the playoffs, but in the regular season he’s one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the league. Expect Schaub to fall to the fifth or so quarterback selected in your draft, but, if Rodgers, Manning and Brady are already taken, you can’t go wrong with Schaub.

No. 1 Arian Foster

If not for Adrian Peterson’s outstanding 2012, Foster would be the No. 1 overall pick. Do whatever you can to get him on your Fantasy team, because he does everything right for a fantasy team.
