Week 14 Fantasy Football Dark Horse Sleeper: WR Jacoby Jones

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens passing game hasn’t exactly been among the leaders in the NFL. The team is currently 22nd in the league with a meager 227.9 passing yards per game, while QB Joe Flacco has thrown just 15 touchdowns through 12 games. Needless to say, fantasy football owners have started the steer clear of the offense altogether.

Recently, though, the team’s offense has started to turn things around. A major reason for the team’s sudden explosiveness in the passing game has been WR Jacoby Jones.

Jones has quickly earned the job as Baltimore’s number two wideout opposite starter Torrey Smith and the veteran wideout has shined since getting the extra reps with the first-team offense. He hauled in four balls for 103 yards and a touchdown against the New York Jets in Week 12. He followed it up with four catches for 53 yards on Thanksgiving night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The speedster has even made a difference in the return game. Jones just missed a return touchdown last Thursday due to Mike Tomlin’s jimmy-legs, but the wideout still showed that he has the potential to add a points in the coming weeks on special teams.

Baltimore plays a Minnesota Vikings secondary that has been getting absolutely abused this year.  The unit allowed Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffrey to amass 249 receiving yards on 12 catches and it is scary to think what Jones could do against this unit with his dynamic speed.

Jones will be a great sleeper to plug in this week and should be good for at least six points in standard leagues. If you are looking for a third wideout to start this week, I recommend rolling the dice with Mr. Jones.
