Daily Fantasy Football Week 1: Top 5 Players From Jaguars vs. Eagles
With a high over/under of 52.5 points and the Philadelphia Eagles favored by 10.5 points, this game is looking to be a Philadelphia blowout. However, this doesn't mean that all of the good daily fantasy options are on their team. There may be a Jaguar or two that can help out your lineups as well. Let's check out who made the top 5 list for this game.
(Prices are based off FanDuel salary-cap leagues)
5. Toby Gerhart - RB ($6100)
5. Toby Gerhart - RB ($6100)
Toby Gerhart is the featured back for the Jaguars and, regardless of the score, will receive a ton of volume via carries and check down passes. While it is concerning that the Eagles had the 12th best run defense last season, they were also ranked dead last against wide receivers. Chad Henne should be able to exploit that at times and that should loosen up the defense for Gerhart to see some daylight. I can see him rushing for 75 yards and a TD.
4. Zach Ertz - TE ($4500)
4. Zach Ertz - TE ($4500)
Jacksonville was ranked 31st in the league against TEs last season and there are no signs of that changing in 2014. Eagles head coach, Chip Kelly, plans to focus on targeting Ertz heavily in the redzone this season and there should be plenty of those in this game. While I don't expect Ertz to get a bunch of receptions, I do expect him to produce about 60 receiving yards and to catch at least one TD. Personally, I think he will catch two.
3. Jeremy Maclin - WR ($5000)
3. Jeremy Maclin - WR ($5000)
The last time that Jeremy Maclin faced the Jaguars it was 2010 and he finished that game with four catches, 83 yards and two touchdowns. This was when he was the WR2 behind DeSean Jackson. Now that Jackson is on the Washington Redskins, Maclin assumes the role of WR1 and will receive more targets than he did in 2010. If he can make it through the game in one piece, then eight catches for over 100 yards and a TD are a strong possibility.
2. Nick Foles - QB ($8500)
2. Nick Foles - QB ($8500)
Nick Foles had an impressive debut season in 2013 after taking over the starting gig from Michael Vick. In 10 games, he threw for 27 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He will look to pick up where he left off as he gets to face a Jaguars squad that ranked 27th in the league against QBs last year. He also has a new weapon with former New Orleans Saint, Darren Sproles. Foles should be good for about 285 yards passing and at least two TDs.
1. LeSean McCoy - RB ($9400)
1. LeSean McCoy - RB ($9400)
Shady McCoy is the ultimate weapon for the Philadelphia Eagles and will be fully unleashed against a poor Jacksonville run defense. They gave up over 130 rushing yards per game last season and did very little to add run support around Paul Posluszny. This should lead to McCoy rushing for over 150 yards and catching around five passes for an additional 50 yards. As for touchdowns, one is basically guaranteed and two shouldn't surprise anyone.
