No pitcher was hotter down the stretch last fantasy baseball season than SP Michael Wacha of the St. Louis Cardinals. In just 64.2 innings last year, Wacha had a sizzling 2.78 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. He also struck out 65 batters, while recording a 4-1 record in limited action.

Unfortunately, the right-hander has been out since mid-June and has consequently missed the majority of the 2014 season due to a shoulder injury. He has suffered countless setbacks and his season has been an utter disaster.

Since coming off the shelf, though, Wacha has been dealing. In his last two starts, Wacha has only allowed two earned runs (2.00 ERA). He has also struck out 10 batters in nine innings of work and has quietly rounded back into form.

The fireballer has dialed his fastball up to 96 MPH consistently this month, and he even touched 98 MPH on the radar gun in a recent start. Considering he missed months with a shoulder injury, it is very promising to see him throw such bullets. Wacha has regained his heater and seems fully recovered from his nagging shoulder injury.

Wacha will bounce back to be a top-25 pitcher next season. He may not be worth keeping in league that allow only a couple of keepers, but he is absolutely worth locking up in any type of dynasty leagues.
