Fantasy Football: Terrance West Week 3 Projection

Terrance West, Cleveland Browns

Running back Ben Tate was supposed to be the Cleveland Browns player who would break out in 2014. Unfortunately, Tate will be sidelined till Week 5 because of an MCL issue, which gave an opening to Terrance West. The rookie out of Towson has taken off since. Behind a solid offensive line, West has been able to post back to back double-digit fantasy efforts.

In Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have a solid run defense, West carried the rock 16 times for exactly 100 yards. Against the New Orleans Saints, West didn’t have the same type of yardage, but he managed to score a touchdown. West carried the football 19 times for 68 yards in Week 2. There were some questions regarding fellow rookie Isaiah Crowell, but it is clear now that the Browns believe West is their No. 1 back.

As such, fantasy football owners should play West in all types of leagues going forward.

The first thing to mention about this Cleveland offense is that they don’t turn the ball over. Brian Hoyer is an excellent game manager, and that is huge for West as he will have his opportunities on the opponent’s side of the field. The Browns have yet to turn the ball over despite having a lackluster group of receivers.

Going forward, West will have a favorable matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, who have a very young group of linebackers. In what is always a close game, the Browns vs. Ravens could be a dogfight, and that will favor West’s ability to wear down defenses with his running style. Given the type of matchup facing him and his season so far, West is on fire right now and there is no reason why he can’t continue this.

Week 3 Fantasy Football Projection: 18 carries, 107 rushing yards, two catches, 16 receiving yards, and a touchdown.
