Fantasy Football Week 3 Waiver Wire Pickup: WR Brian Quick

Brian Quick

After turning in two relatively disappointing seasons, St. Louis Rams wide receiver Brian Quick appears to be finding his way in the NFL. In the Rams’ season opener, Quick caught seven passes for 99 yards in a disappointing 34-6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. On Sunday, Quick caught another seven passes for 74 yards bringing his season total to 14 receptions for 173 yards.

Despite having zero touchdowns through two games, Quick’s stock is on the rise, as he appears to be developing a rapport with Rams quarterback Austin Davis. Quick was targeted nine times on Sunday, five more than fellow wide receiver Lance Kendricks, who received the second most targets. With second year wideout Tavon Austin listed as questionable, Quick should continue to see plenty of targets next week as the Rams face the Dallas Cowboys at home.

Despite his team high 18 targets through the first two weeks and the fact that he has emerged as the Rams’ No. 1 receiver, Quick’s fantasy outlook is a looking weak heading into Week 3. The Rams’ quarterback situation is gloomy at best, as Davis is still relatively unknown; coupled with the fact that Quick has yet to find the end zone, and you have a very deep sleeper.

So far this season, the Cowboys have allowed an average of 212 passing yards per game. Quick should receive plenty of targets, making him a potential flex option in PPR leagues, but he has little value in standard leagues. Owned in only 3.7 percent of ESPN Fantasy leagues, Quick is a WR4.
