Colin Kaepernick Will Disappoint In Fantasy Football Week 3

Fantasy owners have a tough decision to make with Colin Kaepernick in Week 3. He goes on the road to take on a solid Arizona Cardinals’ defense. Will we see the quarterback who flourished against the Dallas Cowboys, or the guy who collapsed last week against the Chicago Bears?

One factor worth considering is the play calling. The San Francisco 49ers coaching staff should have the consequences of being too aggressive pretty fresh in their minds. With play calling that was a little too pass-heavy, the 49ers blew a 17-point lead against the Bears, thanks to four turnovers committed by Kaepernick.

A little more Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde could be in the game plan on Sunday. As a team, San Francisco averages 4.5 yards per carry on the season. A strong rushing attack is there, and it may be in the team’s best interest to lead with it.

Kaepernick does have a couple things working in his favor. Last season, he compiled 562 passing yards, four TDs and one interception in two victories over the Arizona. On top of that, the Cardinal’s pass rush has managed just two sacks this season. These things may tempt fantasy owners to roll with him, but they shouldn’t.

The negatives outweigh the positives. Kaepernick will be on the road against a top-notch secondary with a coaching staff that should be tentative to let him loose. If you don’t have a better option on your bench, there should be one on the waiver wire.
