Fantasy Football Week 4: Sit Tennessee Titans’ Justin Hunter

Justin Hunter

After an impressive preseason, many believed that Tennessee Titans wide receiver Justin Hunter was primed for a breakout season in just his second year in the NFL.  Through the first three games of the season however, Hunter has failed to live up to expectations.

Part of the problem is that the Titans’ offense has been horrible so far this season.  The Titans are ranked 20th in the NFL in passing offense and just 17th in total offense. Hunter certainly has upside as he, Delanie Walker and Kendall Wright appear to be the only receiving threats on the offense.

Despite the Titans’ poor offense, Hunter is getting a fair share of looks from quarterback Jake Locker. Hunter has as many targets as Wright does and he currently leads the team in targets of 20 yards or more.

The Titans are playing the Indianapolis Colts this week, a team that currently has the fifth-worst passing defense in the league, but with Locker’s status for the game questionable with a wrist injury, Hunter is a flex option at best.

Add-in the fact that through three games, Hunter currently has only eight receptions on 21 targets and three dropped passes; things do not look good for Hunter this week. If Locker doesn’t play, then the Titans may rely heavily on running back Shonn Greene and their defense to win the game. If he does play, then Hunter may see four receptions at best.

The Colts should beat the Titans this week, and Justin Hunter should stay on your bench.
