Fantasy Football Week 6 Start or Sit: Carson Palmer

Carson Palmer has been an enigma this season. Palmer had a great Week 1 against the San Diego Chargers, throwing for over 300 yards with two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Talk started immediately that perhaps those who took Palmer in the late rounds as their QB2 would be rewarded with a big season from the QB surrounded by an upstart Arizona Cardinals team ready to make some noise in the NFC.

Shortly after Week 1 Palmer was dealing with a shoulder issue, and everyone assumed he would be ready to play in Week 2. But as the week progressed, we found out that he was dealing with a nerve issue and he missed the game against the New York Giants.

Suddenly, Palmer missed Weeks 3 and 4 and reports were out that he would definitely be back for Week 5. The nerve issue continued to linger and Palmer was eventually ruled out for Week 5 as well. Now we’ve reached Week 6, Palmer has started to throw and Bruce Arians is hopeful that he might be able to play this week.

From a fantasy perspective, there is zero reason to play Palmer. If you are reading this and currently considering inserting him into your lineup, pay your league dues now because you have zero chance of winning. Palmer is at best 50-50 to play, and even if he does, why would you consider playing a QB with shoulder trouble?

Palmer needs to play, and play well to prove that this nerve issue is 100 percent behind him, before you should even consider having him in your lineup. At this point, Palmer is only worth a bench spot in deep leagues; there are much better QB options out there.
