Frank Gore Fantasy Football Week 6 Projection

Frank Gore

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Although he is one of the oldest running backs in the league at 31, Frank Gore is annually one of the best fantasy football backs. Gore has a ton of wear and tear, as he has carried the football at least 203 times in the past eight seasons. In just five games this year, Gore has already carried the football 77 times. Colin Kaepernick‘s read option makes Gore valuable, and even though Carlos Hyde has a ton of promise, Gore is still the best option the San Francisco 49ers have.

Ever since his six-carry game in Week 3 against the division rival Arizona Cardinals, Gore has ran the football 42 times in the past two weeks. It should also be noted that Gore has made some plays out of the backfield. In Week 4, Gore had a 55-yard reception that was huge in determining the outcome of the game. Gore makes this offense go because he runs with reason and even when he doesn’t get the ball, Gore is making it easier for Kaepernick to throw the football by taking on blockers.

While the 49ers’ offensive line has lost a step since 2013, offensive coordinator Greg Roman‘s run-blocking scheme makes it easier for Gore to find holes on inside handoffs and stretch plays to the outside. On Monday night, Gore will be going up against the St. Louis Rams, who are giving up the 10th-least fantasy points to opposing running backs. Regardless, Gore will get his carries and he is always a terrific option in the red zone. Gore is a high-end RB2 and a low-end RB1 for Week 6.

Week 6 fantasy football projection: 17 carries for 86 yards, two catches for 12 yards and a touchdown.
