Fantasy Football Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickup: WR Malcom Floyd

The San Diego Chargers, despite their age, are one of the best offenses in all of football. With the multiple weapons in the passing game, it’s hard for opposing defenses to cover them all. One of those receivers had their best game on Sunday and should be picked up for Week 7. His name is Malcom Floyd.

The Chargers were close to losing to the Oakland Raiders, but were able to squeak out a victory. Floyd hauled in five passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. In the first five games of the season, Floyd had 12 receptions for 259 yards and two touchdowns. Floyd was the leading receiver for the Chargers this week.

Philip Rivers has a lot of weapons at his disposal, which makes defenders and fantasy owners equally as stressed. Antonio Gates had his big game in Week 2,  Eddie Royal had two big games in Weeks 3 and 4 and Keenan Allen finally emerged in Week 4. It’s near impossible to predict who will have the big game.

Despite not getting consistent targets on a weekly basis, Floyd is still the Chargers’ best deep threat option. He can sprint downfield and catch a 50 or 60-yard pass on his way to a touchdown. On the other hand, he could be held to just three catches for 50 yards.

The Chargers have the Kansas City Chiefs up next, which means Floyd could have another big game. They have allowed an average of 21.0 fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. With the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers on bye in Week 7, you may need Floyd more than ever.

Floyd is owned in just 4.2 percent of ESPN.com leagues. After his big game on Sunday, owners will be flocking to the waiver wire to pick up the veteran.
