Le’Veon Bell Fantasy Football Week 7 Projection

Le'Veon Bell, Pittsburgh Steelers, Fantasy Football

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Le’Veon Bell of the Pittsburgh Steelers was one of my favorite running backs heading into fantasy football draft season this year. While I didn’t get him in either of my leagues, he has produced at a high level with over 100 yards from scrimmage in all six games thus far. While he has not found the end zone since Week 1, Bell is still the fifth-highest scoring running back in ESPN standard leagues entering this week’s action (79 points; 13.2 per game).

A Monday night matchup with the Houston Texans is on the slate for Pittsburgh in Week 7, and Bell’s chances to have another good game are high. The Texans are around the middle of the pack against running back so far this season, allowing 18.3 fantasy points per game (ESPN scoring), but they have allowed at least 16 fantasy points to the position in five of six games while ceding a rushing touchdown four times.

Rumors of LeGarrette Blount eating into Bell’s workload this year remain largely unfounded, as Blount has only reached double-digit carries in a game once, all three of his catches on the season came in one game and he has only vultured two touchdowns so far. Bell is the clear workhorse in the Steelers’ backfield, and that will remain the case on Monday night barring injury.

On the heels of their struggles over the last couple games, I expect Bell to be featured prominently in the Steelers’ offense on Monday night. Any other game plan does not look viable, or very likely to succeed, so I am easily projecting 20-plus touches for Bell with yardage output in line with that kind of workload.

Le’Veon Bell Week 7 Fantasy Projection: 21 carries for 88 yards, five receptions for 35 yards, two total touchdowns
