Fantasy Football Week 7 Projection: Odell Beckham

Odell Beckam Jr.

Noah K Murray – USA TODAY Sports

Not much is more enticing in fantasy football than a talented player who will receive more touches. Odell Beckham Jr. is exactly that. With the season-ending injury to Victor Cruz, expect Beckham to be the go-to man in New York.

Beckham was drafted in the first round of the most recent NFL Draft. He was sidelined for the first four games of the season due to a hamstring injury. In his first game, he posted a solid fantasy game at around 10 points. Now he is expected to produce a high level, in only his third career game. He is slotted in the starting lineup opposite of Rueben Randle.

On his one touchdown of the season, Beckham showed the ability to separate form his defender and make a catch in traffic. The New York Giants play the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7. The Cowboys are playing without their top cornerback Morris Claiborne, and while the Cowboys do rank 12th in pass defense, I still expect Beckham to excel.

The Giants may be losing for most of the game, so that leaves Eli Manning and company to stray away from the run game, especially with starting running back Rashad Jennings ruled out. I am not entirely sold on Randle’s ability to shoulder any type of load, and I believe Beckham will lead the Giants in receiving. Will he get into the end zone? I think he will, but in garbage time (still counts).

Prediction: seven catches, 87 receiving yards and a touchdown.
