Cincinnati Bengals starting RB Giovani Bernard was officially ruled out of Sunday’s contest with the Jacksonville Jaguars after suffering a hip pointer in Week 8′s win over the Baltimore Ravens.

Bernard’s replacement will be 6-foot-1, 238-pound rookie running back Jeremy Hill. After Bernard’s exit last week Hill came in and received a majority of the carries in the backfield, totaling 14 touches for just 53 yards from scrimmage (25 on the ground). Despite a disappointing showing, the LSU standout has shown some bright spots this year when given the ball.

Hill will be receiving a lot of starter recognition in fantasy football leagues due to the possibility of receiving around 25 touches. Hill has shown he can be a presence in the running game as well as the passing game, catching 11 balls in the last four games. Playing the complementary role to Bernard, he has also seen a good amount of goal line work with all three of his touchdowns coming inside the five yard-line.

Hill is a fantasy football favorite more for his projected touches than his actual matchup. The Jaguars come into Week 9 toting a very good run defense as of late, allowing only one touchdown to RBs over the past six weeks. However, the Jaguars have surrendered a fair amount of receptions in the passing game to RBs this year, in which Hill good easily see a lot of look from QB Andy Dalton.

All in all, this still is a great matchup for fantasy owners of Hill. He deserves RB2 recognition in most formats and has the potential to be a nice PPR start since he’s taking over Bernard’s receiving workload. Fantasy owners who hung on to Hill should definitely insert him into their lineups this week and watch him get you at least a solid 14 points.

Hill’s Fantasy Forecast: 22 carries for 73 yards, five receptions for 37 yards, a TD and one fumble
