Week 9 Fantasy Football: WR Andrew Hawkins Is A Must-Start

After the season-long suspension to WR Josh Gordon, the wide receiver situation for the Cleveland Browns was tenuous at best. The team lacked a true number one wideout, and as a result, the majority of the receivers on the team went undrafted in fantasy football formats this summer.

Throughout the season, though WR Andrew Hawkins has matured into a rather productive fantasy weapon. He has received nine or more targets in six of the last seven games and has become the top wide receiver in this underrated offense. Even more impressive, he has overshadow both WR Miles Austin and TE Jordan Cameron.

After being held out of the scoring column against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 6, Hawkins has rebounded nicely over the past two weeks. He finished Week 7 with five catches and a career-high 112 receiving yards. Last week, Hawkins finished with seven catches for 88 yards and his first TD of the season. He has matured into a legitimate WR2/WR3.

Cleveland faces a pathetic Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense in Week 9 that is allowing a league-leading 29.4 fantasy points per game to opposing wideouts. They have been torched on a weekly basis and this weekend’s contest will likely be no different.

Hawkins will be worth plugging in as a WR3 in all formats this Sunday. He likely won’t score a touchdown, but he will easily eclipse the 80-yard mark and haul in between 6-8 balls.
