Fantasy Football Week 10 Waiver Wire: Daniel Thomas

Daniel Thomas: Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

The Miami Dolphins have had a rough stretch at the running back position this season. Knowshon Moreno, who was the starter coming into the season, was placed on Injured Reserve a few weeks ago with a torn ACL, leaving the ball in the hands of Lamar Miller. Miller, who was beginning to split carries with Moreno already, was in the position to make a statement in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, last week against the San Diego Chargers, Miller suffered a separated shoulder, and is now day to day with the injury.

If Miller is unable to go Sunday, Daniel Thomas will be promoted to the starting RB position. Even if Miller does play, I believe Thomas will receive the bulk of the carries, making him a viable fantasy option this week. Therefore, if he’s available on the waiver wire in your fantasy football league, and you’re in need of a running back this week, it may be smart to put in a move for him.

Thomas has had limited touches this season, but has averaged almost four yards per carry with those touches. If he’s given the start this week, it will be intriguing to see how effective he is as the primary back. Unfortunately, he’s coming off a rather disappointing performance against the Chargers, gaining only eight yards on nine carries. However, I think he will be determined to make a statement with this rare opportunity and come through for the team.

This will be a tough Week 10 matchup against the Detroit Lions, who currently rank 2nd in the NFL in rushing defense. I still, however, believe that Thomas will have a decent game and provide his fantasy owners with a double-digit score. With Miller banged up, I expect Thomas to be the featured back and run for a solid 70 yards against the Lions’ defense and score his first touchdown of the season.
