Fantasy Football Week 11 Start or Sit: Andrew Hawkins

Andrew Hawkins, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans

The Cleveland Browns are taking on the Houston Texans this week in Cleveland. If you own Andrew Hawkins, this is music to your ears and he should definitely be in your starting lineup if he plays.

Hawkins is listed as questionable as of Wednesday but is expected to return to the lineup this week after missing one and a half games with thigh and knee injuries. In the two weeks before Hawkins was injured, he put up 16 and 21 points respectively in PPR leagues and is their clear No. 1 receiver.

It is always a risk to play someone when they are coming off an injury because it is likely that player will be eased back into the lineup, but Hawkins is an exception here because of the matchup. The Texans rank as the second-worst team in the league against wide receivers fantasy-wise, letting up at least one touchdown to a receiver in every game since Week 1. Two weeks ago, the Texans allowed Philadelphia Eagles receivers to go for 263 yards and three touchdowns.

The only downside here is the Browns are more of a running team, and prefer to keep the ball out of quarterback Brian Hoyer‘s hands. The Texans aren’t great against the run, but they aren’t awful, so the Browns should have to throw the ball more often than they would like in this game. When Hoyer drops back to throw, his options are Hawkins, Miles Austin and Taylor Gabriel at wide receiver, and Hawkins is clearly the best of the three.

This will be the last week Hawkins has fantasy value as Josh Gordon is expected to be reinstated for Week 12, but assuming he plays you can use him with confidence in your flex position this week.
