The term ‘boom or bust’ for wide receivers is used too often. Every wideout has off games. There are no receivers who are nothing but boom; therefore any wide receiver who had a good game is technically boom or bust.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been getting the label a lot this season. With standard scoring, he’s had games with 17, 21 and 24 points, but also four performances of three points or less. So yes, he might have a good game and he might have a bad game. He’s also had performances of eight and nine points, so he might have a mediocre game too.

The only aspect of fantasy football harder to predict than how a passing attack is going to play out is how well a kicker will do. Get over the unpredictability and roll with Watkins. He’s the No. 14 wide receiver in fantasy football with an average of 9.7 points per game.

Even with the short week, his recent groin injury shouldn’t be a concern. He played the entire game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and he was listed as a full participant for Monday’s practice. Watkins is easily the Bills’ best weapon, and he’ll continue to get his targets in a huge Thursday night game against the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins may have the second-best pass defense in the league, but it didn’t matter to Watkins in Week 2 when he had eight grabs for 117 yards and a TD. Unless you are stacked at wide receiver, he is a must-start.

Projection: 90 receiving yards, one touchdown
