Fantasy Football Week 12 Waiver Wire Pickup: TE Jacob Tamme

Week 11 was a week the Denver Broncos would like to forget. Not only did they lose to the Shaun Hill-led St. Louis Rams, but Julius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders left the game with injuries and did not return. For a team that has Super Bowl aspirations, that is not good news.

Although both left the game with injuries, teams that will play the Broncos in the future will know how inconsistent and stagnant their offense is when two of their top targets aren’t on the field.

For fantasy purposes, this opens opportunities to replace the fallen stars. While it is yet to be known whether Thomas will suit up for the Broncos in Week 12, it should be known that the Broncos have an excellent backup tight end in Jacob Tamme.

Peyton Manning loves throwing the football to players he is comfortable with. While Tamme has only caught a total of 82 passes in his three-year tenure in Denver, it should be known that Tamme’s relationship with Manning dates back to their days with the Indianapolis Colts. Tamme exploded onto the scene in the 2010 season when Dallas Clark went down with injury. After his success with Manning, Tamme decided to follow him to Denver.

Although the Broncos will be going up against one of the best defenses in the NFL in the Miami Dolphins, the Broncos will still throw the ball a lot. While Manning could very well be without his two of his top targets, Tamme should be rewarded with a ton of passes thrown his way. Tamme will not help your fantasy team long-term, but if you’re lacking production from your tight end, picking up Tamme will be a smart investment over the next few weeks.
