Fantasy Football Week 12 Start or Sit: RB Arian Foster

It’s been a tale of two seasons in 2014 for Houston Texans RB Arian Foster. When he’s been healthy, he’s been arguably the best running back in fantasy football. But coming off a groin injury that surprisingly cost him his Week 11 game against the Cleveland Browns, questions about his health still surround him. Still, the fact remains that, if he plays, Foster absolutely must be in your fantasy lineup this weekend.

If you’re looking for the ideal fantasy matchup, it’s hard to pick one much better than this. Assuming he starts as expected, Foster will be playing behind QB Ryan Mallett for the first time. Mallett had a solid outing against the Browns last week, but this week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals will lead to an entirely different game plan.

The Bengals secondary is relatively strong, allowing just 11 passing touchdowns (first in the NFL) while racking up ten interceptions. Their run defense, on the other hand? Not so much. Cincinnati has been pathetic against the run in 2014, allowing 136.2 yards per game and 12 rushing touchdowns. They’ve allowed Mark Ingram, Terrance West, and even Denard Robinson to run up big games, and Foster is on another level from even those guys.

A healthy Foster gives the Texans the ultimate versatility, as he is more than capable of producing in the passing game. With receiving touchdowns in each of his last three starts, Mallett will certainly look Foster’s way early and often out of the backfield, and once he gets the ball, Foster can take it from there.

All signs point toward a big day for Foster, as long as he’s capable of staying on the field. With the fantasy playoffs on the horizon, it’s time to ride your stars to victory, and Arian Foster should help bring you there in Week 12.
