Fantasy Football Week 13 Waiver Wire Pickup: RB LeGarrette Blount

In most Fantasy Football leagues, running back LeGarrette Blount has bounced from team-to-team, while also spending a lot of time on the waiver wire. The biggest reason for that is because he was not utilized correctly with the Pittsburgh Steelers, which ironically is what cost him his release from the team. That did not bother him much, though, as he is back with his former team.

Blount has found himself in the good graces of fantasy owners after a phenomenal performance as a member of the New England Patriots. ESPN standard leagues had a Week 12 projection of one point against the Detroit Lions. One cannot blame the projection considering the Lions are one of the top ranked defenses in the NFL. However, he fooled us all, which should spark frenzy on the waiver wire this week.

The 27-year-old is owned in just 20.1 percent of ESPN standard leagues. But, his 12 carries for 78 rushing yards and two touchdowns will make his owned percentage at least double beginning Wednesday. With that said, just because he posted a season-high 19 fantasy points in Week 12 does not automatically make him a guaranteed start in Week 13. What it does do is give owners a very good option if they are in need of a running back.

With the Green Bay Packers on tap for the Patriots in Week 13, it is hard to gauge how much Blount will be used. The reality is it will most likely be the Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady show, especially if neither defense can stop the quarterbacks through the air. On the other hand, any signs of cold weather will open up the running game, which could see Blount featured in the red zone.
