Fantasy Football Week 13 Sleeper: Colt McCoy

Colt McCoy Fantasy Football Sleeper for Week 13

Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

The Indianapolis Colts rank 20th in the NFL against the pass (249 yards per game), and this news bodes well if you’re looking to dust off and activate Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy, who’s spent the last few weeks either idle on your bench or perched on the waiver wire.

McCoy has played one game indoors (at Dallas Cowboys) and went for 299 yards passing. He is tremendously accurate, and although he’s only thrown 42 passes on the season, he’s completed 36 of them (85.7 percent). The Cowboys have a similar rated pass defense (19th) compared to the Colts, and this is another dome game, which will be a more pass-friendly environment than what at least 12 other NFL quarterbacks will encounter Sunday.

I would count on McCoy putting up 300 yards passing but only one touchdown since Alfred Morris will likely absorb one on the ground. McCoy should also keep his interception tally low, and this projected line — assuming he throws zero picks and holds on to the ball — will net you 16 points with standard scoring, which will be beneficial if you don’t have a top-10 fantasy QB handy.

Here are the quarterbacks I’d start Colt McCoy in favor of: Cam Newton, Blake Bortles, Josh McCown, Zach Mettenberger, Teddy Bridgewater, Derek Carr, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Shaun Hill, Kyle Orton and Geno Smith. If you have Alex Smith or Joe Flacco, I say you flip a coin.

I’d start Brian Hoyer in favor of McCoy, however, as he’ll earn more than 16 points just based on dividends from Josh Gordon.

If you need Colt McCoy, he should be available, and he should be a steady contributor if you need a safe bet at quarterback.
