Fantasy Football Week 13 Start or Sit: Julius Thomas

Through the first six weeks of the NFL season, Julius Thomas was on a ridiculous pace. However, since Week 6, Thomas has only three touchdowns. It is clear that something over the past month or so has been bothering him. Over the past two weeks, Thomas has been sidelined because of a nagging ankle injury. For this weekend’s matchup against their rival Kansas City Chiefs, Thomas is questionable.

Besides Jimmy Graham, there may not be a more versatile tight end in the entire league than Thomas. Not only is he dominant in the running game, but Thomas is such a valuable player in the passing game. Even when he isn’t getting the football, he gets attention from two guys at times and that makes it easier for Peyton Manning to find his other playmakers. When Thomas has been shut down, Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders have gone off and the main reason why is because of defenses putting extra attention on the tight end.

Considering how important he is to Denver’s success, there is a high chance Thomas will sit out in Week 13. If that happens, backup tight end Jacob Tamme will be the guy to pick up in your league. Although he’s a backup tight end, Tamme has history with Manning from their days together with the Indianapolis Colts. Week 13 is a big game for the Broncos and that’s why I think Thomas will suit up on Sunday. Knowing that, Thomas is a must-play this weekend as the Chiefs have had problems all year covering tight ends.
